This website is an article about some of the Detroit Red Wing players helping out Blight Busters. The Red Wings organization puts their player out into the city of Detroit to help the community. Not only do the Red Wings players help network the Blight Busters they also give them exposure through the Detroit News and the television show Red Wings Weekly this television show is popular in the Detroit community and is a great way to give Blight Busters some exposure.

This article is about the meijer opening on 8 mile last summer and how Blight Busters cleaned up a police station across the street from it. there are a few important quotes about why BB was interested in cleaning up the space, "We hope we can convince the city, the state and the county to return our police officers to northwest Detroit and fill the void, if you will, since they left 5 years ago,” he said." As well as useful information about BB successes, "Founded 26 years ago, Motor City Blight Busters has invested about $20 million into the roughly 1,500 buildings it has worked on, including structures it has boarded up, demolished or renovated."

This article has a lot of useful information about the history of Blight Busters and how John George grew his company. The article however is 7 years old so some of the "future plans" have been done. This article discusses budget, funding, and donations all of which are important to include in our research paper. An important quote I found was "He plans to place increased focus on attracting artists, musicians and performers to the area — members of the "creative class" that urban studies professor Richard Florida says is vital to creating vibrant communities." Which will contribute a lot towards the intern section I (Ashley) am working on. It will be easy for me to tie in internships when I know that this is the direction he wants to take. Metro Times did a really informative interview which allows us to know George's perspective, considering we have not been able to reach him.

From what I've gathered, this article focuses heavily on the idea of eminent domain in dealing with blighted land. Eminent domain the government taking private land for public use and giving compensation to the prior owner. However they use suggest the idea of eminent domain but where the property is used by a private college or university. The university then fixes up the property and the surrounding area becomes more appealing. I guess this article isn't super relevant but I read it already so I'm going to mention it to you guys. It also has a really good section of the negative impacts of blight on a community.
