1. The goal of my test is to see where instruction set succeeds and where it needs improvement. I will determine the success based on how well my audience can follow my directions. The areas that I believe will most contribute to the usefulness of my project is that it is concise and easy to follow. It has bold headings that can direct you to the step you need quickly, but it is very detailed following that heading in each step. I am still unsure about my images; I don't know if they are effective enough in displaying each step.

2. I plan to use 3-4 people to test my instruction set. They will be younger women with some experience in applying makeup. I will use girls with different levels of experience doing makeup. This way, those with a lot of experience can critique my methods, and those with little can test how well I explain my purpose. I could use two people from our class, and two people outside of the course.

3. The best test for this type of instruction set is an understanding test, because makeup has many types of application. If I can get my readers to paraphrase my method and give key points on how my instructions are different than every day makeup, then they understood my instructions on how to look like a specific celebrity. Obviously, I would ideally like to do a performance test, but doing this in class isn't convenient, because the readers would have to remove their own makeup, bring in all of the products listed in my materials section, and apply makeup again. That may be a test I would have a reader outside of class try. A location test would be a good way to test only the effectiveness of how I wrote the instructions: headings, finding information quickly, etc., but the application process itself is just as important as finding a step quickly.

4. Notes:

  1. Scope: I'm testing how well young women can follow how to do makeup based on my procedure, and how well they pick up on the key features that will give them Kim Kardashian's look.
  2. Purpose: My goal is to make a usable webpage that will highlight on a celebrity look. My concerns are that my images aren't adding to my instruction set.
  3. Schedule and location: I will test my set on Thursday, February 19 in class. I will probably only run 1 or 2 sessions on that day, because we have limited women in the class.
  4. Sessions: Each session will take about 15-20 minutes. They will read through the instructions and see if they understand all of the methods, then I will let them ask me questions of clarification. Next, I will ask them to paraphrase what they read and note the good and bad qualities.
  5. Equipment: We will use either the desktops in class or laptops. I may have them test the usability of the website on their phones as well.
  6. Participants: Young women will be used in this test, preferably ones with some makeup experience. I will test 2 people from my class, and 2 people outside of class.
  7. Scenarios:
  8. Metrics
  9. Quantitative Metrics
  10. Roles
