How To Build a House

Materials Needed: 4 Walls, 1 door, 4 windows, 7,450 pegs, 1 roof, and an allen wrench

  • A good place to buy these materials would be any hardware store or from the site of a house actually being built by professionals (they usually have extras just take what you need; if they get angry, just run away as fast as you can).

By the end of this instruction set, you will have yourself a new house. If your house is on it's roof, you did this wrong and should read the troubleshooting section.

Step One: The Pegs

  • Insert 1,000 pegs into each wall, the holes are already pre-drilled.
  • Ensure that all pegs are tightly fastened, these pegs hold up your entire house-so be careful.

Step Two: The Walls

  • Line up walls evenly so they make a square (below is a picture of what a square looks like).

  • Push each wall into each other so the pegs enter the holes of the other walls and there are no longer any gaps between the walls.

Step Three: The Roof

  • Place the remaining pegs into the roof. There should be an exact number to fill all the holes, so don't lose any.
  • Lift up roof (WARNING: Do not drop the roof on yourself, if you do, you will die.)
  • Place roof on house ensuring that there are no gaps for water to get through and that all pegs are lined up with the holes in the walls.

Step Four: Admire

  • Step backwards
  • Admire new house with a smile

Troubleshooting

  • If the house ended up on its roof, you placed the roof on the underside of the walls. Please take it off and move it to the top of the walls.
  • More than likely, the pegs will not line up. If this is the case, gather at least 17 large people and push really hard.
  • If your house is leaning, leave it, it will become a national monument (like the leaning tower of Pisa). If this is the case, please buy another house set from Ikea and try again.

Instructions We Would Change

  • Change the allen wrench and pegs to hammer and nails
  • Add steps to insert window and door
  • Tell them to get a carpenter.
  • Improve the joke by including options to buy land in an up and coming area where they will sell for a large value later and including a list of real instructions with over 3000 steps,.
