In chapter two, Anderson discussed many tips and strategies to revise resumes which can help increase the chance of getting the job. For an example he discussed how to use more verbs to describe action the nouns or how he said to keep re –reading it and revise it so eliminate grammatical errors. Additionally he stated to revise your resume in a way that’s best suitable for that specific position your applying for.

    After reading Anderson discusses strategies and tips to revise resumes and cover letters I have decided to write an experimental resume to apply for the position of a dental assistant. Even though my future career plan is to become a dentist, since I don’t have the academic qualifications (admission into a dental school) I will be using an experimental resume to gain the professional experience as Anderson stated. Working in a workplace with an actual dentist will allow me to acquire the skill and knowledge that will be beneficial for my career when I enter the dental field.

            I recently joined the PDSA (Pre-dental student association) organization at the university. This club allows all the pre- dental students come together and gives us an idea of what to expect from the dental field and also the process of applying to dental schools. I also volunteered at a dental clinic for two years which gave me a good idea of what I will be doing in the future and also gained a lot of skills. When applying as a dental assistant position it will be seen that I have some sort of experience or knowledge regarding this field and will give me a higher chance than those who applied with no prior experience in that field. A few other things that may stand out in my resume are that I have a lot of volunteer experiences which show that I’m active and involved in the community also I am a biology major and a lot of the courses I’m taking are towards the dental field which shows I have knowledge in the required courses for this field.

            My first position I might apply for is The Greene/LeBaron Dental Treatment. They accept applicant that have strong verbal and internet skills.  I have met all the requirements for this internship position. My second position is a Dental Technician position at the DTI Dental Technologies inc. This is another internship position that I have met all the requirements for. Even though these positions might be competitive to get into, these internship positions can give me a good start to my dental career from all the skills and knowledge I join.  I will research and analyze each job ad do that I can show that I have the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism. Also show that I have excellent verbal and communication skills.
