Austin's Instructor Permission Request

Dear Mr. Grogan,

With your permission, I would like to attend your "ENG 3050 Technical Communication I: Reports" class.

When I attempted to register at my advisor's office, she informed me that I need to contact you directly and explain why I should be allowed into your class. There are three main reasons why I think you should allow me in:

1. The course is quite relevant to my pursuit of a degree in Computer Science. From my understanding, the school requires this course for Computer Science majors because it will give them the tools to communicate advanced programming concepts and ideas to multiple types of audiences ranging from the layman to other professionals in their companies. I am excited to learn these concepts to become a better communicator in my field.

2. Even though I see myself as a decent writer who understands the writing process, I lack the full picture of how to communicate technical concepts to multiple types of audiences. Your course description and syllabus clearly explain that I will learn this from your instruction.

3. Since I already am working in a technical field full time, I may be able to bring some perspective to my classmates in our group projects since my work mostly comprises computer programming and website development. Additionally, my experience with web development may be useful for some of the less tech savvy students who want to improve the course required web pages.

Thank you for considering my request to attend your class.
