SWA 4

After reading Chapter 18, and thinking about our goals for user-testing your sites, describe the following in enough detail (1-2 pages) that it begins a draft of your user-test.  Don't worry about formatting or formal language yet.

  1. Initially, define the goals of your usability test (using the guidelines on p. 380)
  2. Ideally, what is your target audience for testing, and how many readers would you like to test?  Realistically, how many people will you test, and how many readers will you need from our class?  (See p. 381)
  3. Ideally, what kind of tests would give you the best feedback: performance tests, location tests, or understandability tests?  Explain the potential benefits and key challenges to each type of test.
  4. Review the resources on www.usability.gov, especially the page on planning a usability test, then draft notes of a plan which includes ideas for your:
    1. Scope
    2. Purpose (note: you may already have articulated this)
    3. Schedule and location (note: we will run tests in class on Thursday the 19th)
    4. Sessions
    5. Equipment
    6. Participants
    7. Scenarios
    8. Metrics
    9. Quantitative Metrics
    10. Roles
