Linzy's Usability Test

Page history last edited by ev6611@wayne.edu 9 years, 2 months ago
  1. The goal of my usability test is to ensure that my instructions are clear enough for the individual to learn and successfully play Piggot Hoggit. My article includes spread out steps and graphics for majority of the steps. The graphics will hopeful help clear up any questions that the reader has. The section that I am most concerned about is the bidding section. This is because this is the most essential part of the game and tends to be a little tricky.

  2.  My target audience would be any individuals that know how to play Euchre and are trying to learn a new card game. Those who have just learned how to play Euchre would not be the best test group because this might alter the results in the negative direction. Therefore, having a group of people that are comfortable with the rules and play of Euchre would be ideal. So, it may be an issue in class if there are not at least four individuals that know how to play Euchre. If this issue occurs than I could conduct the test at home with friends and family.

  3. I would be running performance test and understandability test for these instructions. The location test would not affect my test because it does not matter where you play it would be there same results. The performance test would allow me to see how each individual performs after reading the instructions. This will help me see if they truly know what they are doing. The understandability test goes hand in hand with the performance test. That is because if an individual truly understands the instructions than they will perform better.

  4. Scope: I will be testing if my instructions for “How to play Piggot Hoggit” are understandable and if individuals are able to play the game.

Purpose: the purpose of this test is to see if individuals can learn how to play the card game Piggot Hoggit.

Schedule and Location: The location will be in our classroom on Thursday February 19th. If other testing is needed than I will perform the necessary testing at home with friends and family.

Sessions: The testing in class will last approximately a half hour to forty-five minutes.

Equipment: Deck of cards, pad of paper, and a writing utensil.

Participants: Four individuals that know how to play Euchre.

Scenarios: Having four people that know how to play and allowing them to read the directions and try and conduct a game.

Metrics: Evaluate how each person comprehends the instructions and how they perform. The length of time it takes them to play one game. Lastly, how many questions that they each ask while playing.

Quantitative Metrics: I will be measuring the success rate and also the amount of errors that occur while playing. The ability to comprehend the instructions. How long it took to finish one game. The number of questions asked while playing.

Roles: I will be conducting the test and observing the results. I will be there to point out mistakes and be available to answer any questions that the participants have. The participants role will be to read the instructions and try to follow them to the best of their ability.
