Ben's Planning Guide

Definition of Goals

My obvious goal for my WikiHow article is to provide the reader with the information and assistance with running a program in C/C++ using the Netbeans IDE (Integrated Development Environment). My persuasive goal is to make the reader want to continue to use Netbeans.

Intended Readers

The intended readers for this article are those that are trying to find a good IDE to create and build code into usable programs. This article would be useful to anyone that is just starting to learn to code or an experienced programmer looking for a decent IDE that allows for programming in multiple languages. The only things that someone will need at the beginning of the tutorial are a computer and internet access. The programs will be downloaded and installed during the tutorial because if done improperly could be the root problem of a malfunction or error.

The Community

The topic I am responding to is a requested topic and is a unique question however there are articles that when asking this question a user may also be interested in.

One Topic is "How to Start Learning Computer Programming" which is a very broad article compared to the one I will be doing, but does provide a good overview and forethought into Computer Programming. The use of pictures is done well, but the steps are a bit jumpy, that is, some could be combined, or should be separated. Overall, a decent article worth looking into.

Another Topic is "How to Make a Computer Operating System". This topic is something that should only be attempted by experienced programmers because of the difficulty and amount of knowledge that is needed to perform this task. The article doesn't actually lead the reader to creating an operating system, but leads them to think about what should go into it, and how to go about it. Not a bad article for an experienced programmer that really wants to challenge him or herself.

Research

The research I performed to be able to properly explain this process includes:

  • Visiting the Netbeans webpage
  • Looking up the requirements for the program
  • Reading the installation Guide and ReadMe texts
  • Performing the installations and working with the program myself

Draft of Steps and Procedure

  • Part 1: Downloading the Software
    • Follow links
    • Download Correct Versions
